Clarinets

"The Clarinet can be humorous, mysterious, or deeply lyrical - all at once." - Aaron Copland

The clarinet is a single-reed woodwind instrument with a rich legacy dating back to the early 18th century. Invented by Johann Christoph Denner in Germany, the clarinet evolved from the earlier chalumeau and soon gained fame for its smoothq tone and remarkable range—over three octaves!

An interesting fact? The clarinet was a favorite of Mozart, who composed an entire concerto just for its tone—and it later became the voice of jazz legend Benny Goodman, known as the “King of Swing.”

At RE, the clarinet section adds color and emotion to every piece. From playful passages to soulful solos, its voice can be both delicate and dynamic. We support harmony, add depth to melodies, and sometimes sneak in a little drama of our own!
