Trombones

"The trombone is not an instrument. It's a mirror. It reveals everything about the player.” – J.J. Johnson.

The trombone, with roots stretching back to the 15th-century sackbut, is the only brass instrument in modern ensembles to use a slide instead of valves—making it as expressive as it is unpredictable. Its ability to glide seamlessly between notes gives it a vocal, almost human quality, from warm harmonies to punchy stabs and wild glissandos. As part of the bass section in Rhythmic Energy, we bring out a balance - connecting the sparkle of trumpets and the power of lower brass while adding a distinct flavour of swagger, soul, and playfulness to every piece. From intense brass marching pieces by J.P. Sousa, to the metallic rock theme from Iron Man, to Bollywood retros like "Lag Ja Gale" — we've explored them all! Be it the bass or the tenor trombonist, in RE we play in tune by ear and feel. After all, why play seven notes when one well-aimed slide can say it all?
